Seen from Segelfliegerdamm, Arthur is the first building within the quarter – and therefore the architectural calling card of the new neighbourhood. The elegant five-storey building encloses a green inner courtyard and comprises 146 rental apartments of varying sizes, as well as commercial space facing the street.
Well connected from A to B
Situated along the western edge of the site, Arthur occupies a position between the park-like green corridor, the Fliegervilla and Thekla. Residents benefit not only from nearby shopping facilities and vibrant local life, but also from excellent access to public transport connections.
Generously conceived: Architecture by Stefan Forster
With its clearly structured architecture, Arthur creates a distinctive presence within Segelflieger Quartier. The award-winning Frankfurt-based practice Stefan Forster Architekten has succeeded in giving the ensemble a light, almost floating appearance. This effect is created through the carefully crafted brick plinth, the two-tone façades and the softly rounded corner loggias.
Arthur Müller
Arthur Müller (1871–1935) was a Berlin entrepreneur and aviation pioneer who played a key role in the development of the Johannisthal airfield at the beginning of the 20th century – one of Germany’s first motor airfields. Through his commitment, he helped establish the site as a centre for early flight experimentation and technological innovation.
